I JUST realized it was Saturday.. sorry! It's been a busy week here getting my husband ready to deploy for a while, so I have lost track of my days. That in addition to a new baby - I haven't been getting much done at all!

Summer fun

We actually had some sun here yesterday in Alaska, so I seriously forgot what day it was! We played at the park until late, then by the time I got both kids asleep, I was tired. I remembered about the blog post at 2:30 this morning. Oops! Sorry it's late!

We have another new challenge this week - should be an EASY one.... maybe. The challenge this week is to USE A LOT OF SOMETHING. That something can be whatever you choose - photos, flowers, buttons, ribbon, glitter, etc - you choose!

I would like to introduce you to all of the newest DT members. I know it is a bit late, it has been a crazy couple of weeks with us all being sick around my house. But hey, sometimes you have to wait for good things, right? I am thrilled for you all to get to know the newest team members. We have got another wonderful group of talented ladies this time! I am always amazed at the talent!

I am 36 years young and in love with life! I’m married to my high school sweetheart and have an amazing 5 year old little girl. We live in Cape Town (sunny South Africa) and I am a work-from-home mom and business owner (unfortunately not scrapbookingJ). I am truly blessed in every possible way!

I have been a paper / stamp / glue / sticker / stationary fanatic since I can remember! I bought my first stamp in 1986 (a funky frog design - my daughter now stamps her projects with it!) and when I discovered Scrapbooking 11 years ago I found a place to live every dream I ever imagined – it was love at first sight (or shall I say first purchase. My scrapbook style is inspired by the product I work with and I LOVE playing around with stamps, sketches, different techniques and new toys. Browsing all the sites and blog-hopping is a favorite past-time for inspiration and to learn new techniques and ideas and meet scrap-buddies all over the world.

Scrapbooking plays a vital part in my life, it is my stress-release, relax-treatment and most importantly a legacy to my daughter…………..hope she has a BIG house to store all the albums one day.

I am Teresita, 33 years old, I have lived abroad for some years and then

I came back to the north of Italy in late 2009. i am Administrative Assistant during the day,

but then my creativity comes out!

I discovered Scrapbooking in 2008 in Brussels, and since then…I became scrap addicted!

Now I would spend more money in scrap stuff than in clothes!!

My style is I free, colourful, and even flashy sometimes.

I love making 12x12 layouts, but I am happy when I can make cards to offer, or little paintings to be hung.

My name is Vicky, 32 years old and I have been scrapping since 2003. Next to scrapbooking, I really love photography and travelling, so I always end up with a beautiful album about our travels. I’m married, but we don’t have kids. Instead, I have 6 pet rabbits, 5 of them live outside and one lives inside the house. His name is Speedy and I believe he’s a dog in a rabbitskin!

Ever since I’ve been in contact with scrapbooking, I’m very passionate about it. I used to work together with Kars, which is a craft wholesale company in the Netherlands and a couple of craft shops in Belgium. But I decided to start my own business with scrapbooking materials only. Scrapbooking is not so well known here in Belgium (well, at least not as in the States or the Netherlands) but I really do my best to share my passion with others. The shop is not my full-time occupation, I’m a teacher of English, history and geography in secondary school.

I have a (Dutch) blog, it’s http://creanijn.blogspot.com ( I could do English posts as well!) There you can find most of my work. I’m a simple scrapbooker, I don’t tend to use a lot of embellishments and so, because my pictures are the main focus of my pages. I really try to use a lot of pictures on my layouts ever time. Ever since I've discovered your blog, I try to put at least one stamp on my layouts. I have so many stamps, and so I challenged myself to use them more often! I don't participate a lot on the blog lately, but I try to visit it regularly to get some inspiration.

Hi everyone! I have been married to my best friend, Mark for 22 years and I am a SAHM with 4 children & 6 cats. I am originally from Maryland, but have been in Pennsylvania for the last 15 years. I've always liked creating things, even as a child. I remember macrame plant hangers, pot holders(you know the ones made from loops of fabric), latch hook pillows, plastic canvas tissue boxes and so much more.

I attended a Creative Memories party MANY moons ago and have been scrapbooking and card making ever since. I've been a Close to my Heart Independent Consultant for over 4 years now and it is a joy to share my love of papercrafting with others! I started blogging in 2009 and one of my favorite parts of the day is when I can settle in with my laptop and coffee and "visit" my papercrafting friends to gain inspiration and share some love. I would describe my scrapbooking style as clean and simple. My other hobbies include reading (anything I can get my hands on), knitting and most recently, crocheting.

Thanks Lisa for getting the post together today. I have lost a day somewhere this week. Because I was thinking today was Friday!?? We have been at the hopsital all week with my son, with all the pollen we have here he ended up with a sinus infection and then his asthma started. But he is all better now, but it has been a long week!

Thanks for joining us for another Scrap and Stamp challenge! The intros for our newest team members will be posted tomorrow. I ended up with a sick kiddo this week and about the time he got over it, I got it, so I got a little behind.

DT CALL and a Challenge....

Thanks for joining us for another Scrap and Stamp challenge! Be sure to check the previous post for the winners. So I know I had said the new DT Call would be posted already but I am behind this week. It seems our little universe is fighting us this week (yet again...lol).

Before I get to the challenge let me tell you about the DT CALL!!!

It is that time again! Time for us to add to our team! Would you like to be part of a fun group of ladies? Then we would love to have you!
We are looking for at least 4 more talented people to join our fabulous team!

The Requirements:
The term will be for 6 months (March 1st-Sept. 1st). You will need to submit one page every other week based on the challenges that you will receive ahead of time. The DT is split into 2 teams to make it easier on everyone. I try to give them out at least a month in advance so that you can work ahead if you wish. Of course we all know that life gets in the way at times and that is okay too. I just ask that you let me know as soon as possible if you are going to miss.

You will also need to leave some love to those who play along with us. We all love comments so we like to spread the love!
You will be working with your own supplies mostly. I am sorry that I can not offer you supplies each month but occasionally our sponsors do offer some fabulous goodies for the design team to play with.

All you need to do is send the following to me at scrapandstampsaturday@gmail.com with DT CALL in the subject line by Feb. 26th. I will be announcing the new members shortly afterwards!
1. A short bio-please include any design teams you have been on if any, and if you do sketches
2. 3-5 of your favorite layouts featuring stamping, after all that is what we are all about here!
3. A link to your blog if you have one

We would also love for you to play along with our upcoming challenges if you get a chance. This will give us a chance to see a little more of your work!

A Sketchy Challenge.....

Sorry I have been out of touch and that I didn't get last weeks post up. We had a bit of a family emergency and I honestly didn't even think about the group for awhile. Two weeks ago my SIL who is 31, six and a half months pregnant with her first baby, started having problems. She said she just felt out of breath like she had run up alot of stairs. A long story short They finally said that she had faulty wiring in her heart that it had probably been there since birth and just became evident with the stress of pregnancy. They didn't want to put her on meds because of the baby but ultimately did put her on a low dose. Which could still pose a risk to the baby from what they said. Then she ended up in the hospital on Friday last week and we nearly lost both of them over the next several days until they finally got the meds right.

Now I don't know what is wrong with the inlinkz linky from the last challenge. I apologize for that. Due to that I will be back in a little bit with the winner.

The prize this week is a package of Martha Stewart Arctic glitter!

Coloring paper with fabric dye

Here is a fast and fun techinque tutorial by Jowlina. We hope you will give it a try and let us know what you think. It goes along with this weeks challenge!

1. Mix fabric dye with water in a spray bottle and mix well by shaking.

2. Spray your paper liberally with the dye and leave to dry naturally or dry using your heat gun.

3. Cut your paper and use on your project.

*avoid cutting wet paper as it will tear – so let it dry totally!

Try coloureing lace, flowers or ribbons to match your paper for a unified look on your projects

Today we have a tutorial for you to help with this week's embossing challenge - or for future reference if you ever need it!

This month our talented DT Paola from Italy has created a step by step tutorial on how to use dry embossing to created custom textured embellishment to a scrapbook layout.

Let's get started...

1 step: we get some colored cardboard and some Sizzix textures

2 step: to emboss the cards we can create a play of light and dark evenly distribute the Brilliant White ink pad on the front of the texture

3 step: we have to pass the texture in the Big Shot

4 step: this is the effect on dark cardboard

5 step: on the light card instead use a dark ink pad

6 step: we can emboss other cards with different textures without adding color pads. Use different punches shapes and die cuts to make beaded embellishments (use thickness adhesive to create different thicknesses)

7 step: use embellishments for your layout

Creating Custom Buttons

This months tutorial is brought to you by Patricia!

Step 1: Select your button base, it can be cardstock, patterned paper, fabric, etc. Using that base product it is easiest to cut out basic shapes using paper punches. Or hand cut hand cut using templates if you don't have paper punches available.

Step 2: Locate some cardboard and use it to give the buttons their depth and dimension. Use the paper punch or template to cut out the cardboard backers the same as you did in step one.

Step 3: Using gel adhesive or a glue stick adhere the button bases to the cardboard pieces.

Step 4: Now you need to locate a couple real buttons to use as templates for the hole placement on your faux buttons. Set the real buttons on top and centered over your faux buttons and using a needle, straight pin or seam ripper mark the holes.

Step 5: Now use a small hole punch to punch the button holes at the marked spots.

Step 6: This is the fun step, bling it up! I tried all different ways of decorating my buttons including: stamps, ink, marker, stickles, gemstones, rub-ons, thread, ribbon and bakers twine. Get creative.

Step 7: Enjoy your one of a kind custom button embellishments!

Paper piecing tutorial

It's Lisa here - I'm going to show you how to paper piece. I usually paper piece stamped images. I have a TON of cards and layouts on my blog with paper pieced images - here is the step by step

First I stamped directly on my layout - where I wanted the final image to be.

Pick your pattern paper that you want to piece together on the final image - stamp the image on those papers also.

Cut out the pieces from your pattern paper that you want to use - The bottom piece will be covered up, so you don't have to cut all the little pieces off of that.

Glue down your base layer on the final stamped image

Glue down your next layer

Glue down your final layer and you are finished!

You can also choose to paper piece an embellishment that you don't stamp. You can paper piece your own creation on your page (cars, flowers, owls, etc). I personally like how precise you can be with a stamp, but that's me!
